DNA and metabolomics of dead wood fungi

with Dr. Maria Shumskaya

Interested in conducting real research? Join to study fungi which decompose dead wood as a part of National Science Foundation supported project! (NSF #2447179)

  • Conduct identification of fungal and tree samples using DNA barcoding
  • Work with metabolite extractions and component isolation
  • Search for bioactive compounds
  • Grow fungi in the lab and compare with the ones that parasitize on the trees!

Students interested in molecular biology, integrative biology, biotechnology of natural products are encouraged to join this course!

Contact Prof. Shumskaya to discuss the opportunity to join this course!
